Challenge

The Problem Before We Stepped In

MFHI does not serve one audience. A home cook documenting a family recipe, a food entrepreneur looking for a grant, an agency deciding whether to support a festival, and a tourist booking a food trail all need something different from the same organisation — and before this, each of them had to be handled separately, mostly over WhatsApp and PDF flyers. The work also has to read in two languages and carry the marks of the agencies behind it, because an initiative supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Jabatan Warisan Negara, MaTiC and UPM is judged partly on whether it looks like it.

Solution

What We Built

A bilingual (Bahasa Malaysia and English) platform built around the ecosystem MFHI actually runs, rather than an about page with a contact form. It documents heritage food through a Food Heritage Directory, publishes the festival and exhibition calendar with full event detail and vendor registration, sells the Taste Malaysia tourism packages by state, and takes entrepreneurs into the MFHI Entrepreneur Database that feeds grants, training, business matching, trade missions and export opportunities. The five-stage journey — Heritage, Entrepreneur, Market, Tourism, Global — is laid out as the spine of the site, so a visitor can see where they enter it. Supporting agencies and sponsors are given proper placement throughout.
