Travelling across Southeast Asia means crossing a new language every few hundred kilometres — Malay in Kuala Lumpur, Thai in Bangkok, Tagalog in Manila. Most translation apps are built around English and European languages, handle regional speech poorly, and force users to hand their conversations to a cloud service. For hotels, taxis, and street stalls where people actually need help, existing tools are slow, awkward, and raise real privacy concerns.

What We Built

Nusan is a real-time voice translation app built specifically for Southeast Asian languages. Three modes cover every situation: Voice for quick tap-to-translate, Conversation for two-person back-and-forth dialogue, and Camera for translating signs and menus visually. It supports Malay, Indonesian, English, Thai, and Tagalog with automatic language detection, works through a custom keyboard inside WhatsApp and Telegram, and is privacy-first by design — audio is processed in memory and discarded immediately, never written to disk or stored on a server.
