The Problem Before We Stepped In

Paper receipts are the proof you need exactly twice — when something breaks and when you claim it back — and both times they are gone. The apps that promise to fix this ask for a bank connection, or they archive a photo and stop there, leaving you scrolling through pictures of paper looking for one number. The privacy trade is the part nobody states plainly: most receipt scanners upload the image of everything you bought to a server you have no relationship with.

What We Built

Pip reads the receipt on the device. Point the camera and it pulls out the merchant, the line items and the total in about five seconds, with every field editable before it is saved — the app assists, the person decides. Receipt photos never leave the iPhone, and only redacted text is sent for extraction, with card numbers and email addresses stripped on the device first. Prefer no AI at all and manual entry is unlimited and never touches the network. Around that sit the things a receipt is actually for: return windows and warranty dates that warn you before they close, separate personal, business and shared wallets, search by merchant or item or amount, and older receipts converted at the rate of the day you bought rather than today's.
